What is FGF5?
FGF5 is a naturally occurring protein produced in the scalp. évolis™ Professional PROMOTE is designed to support growing hair longer by extending the active hair growth stage, so hair stays actively growing for an extended period of time and can grow longer. évolis™ Professional PROMOTE will also increase the rate of hair growth by around 20%, so hair will grow 20% faster and so will get longer quicker.
How long do I need to use the products before I notice results?
You will need to use évolis™ Professionalfor a minimum of 16 weeks or 120 days to notice significant results of hair growth, though signs that évolis™ Professional is working can be seen much sooner. Results you can expect include:
- Less hair fall in the first 30 days of use
- Short fine hairs visible in thinning areas in 30-60 days of use
- Change in hair texture to smoother and more manageable in 60-90 days of use
- Increased density in 90-120 days of use

If I stop using évolis™ Professional will I experience excessive hair fall?
If you stop using évolis™ Professional the naturally occurring protein FGF5 will begin to accumulate in the scalp and will slowly revert to previous levels. This is a gradual, not a sudden, process and will not result in sudden hair fall. If you were experiencing hair fall and thinning before starting évolis™ Professional, when you stop using évolis™ Professional your hair will eventually revert back to its previous state. It is recommended to use évolis™ Professional continuously to inhibit FGF5 and avoid FGF5 accumulating excessively in the scalp to keep hair and scalp healthy and avoid hair fall.
What are the most common side effects of évolis™ Professional?
There are generally no side effects from using évolis™ Professional. People who suffer from a skin condition such as eczema, psoriasis or sensitive skin may experience irritation and/or a dry, itchy scalp.
Can I use it if I have eczema, psoriasis or any skin condition?
If you suffer from a skin condition such as eczema, psoriasis or sensitive skin we recommend you do a spot test to ensure no irritation will occur before proceeding with daily use of the product. How old do I have to be to use évolis™ Professional?

Inhibiting FGF5 allows hair to stay in the stage of active growth for longer, resulting in less hair fall, more hair density, increased hair length and improved manageability. What types of hair loss will évolis™ Professional help?
All types of hair loss are due to a disturbance in the normal hair growth cycle. Hair usually grows in 3 main stages, a period of active growth which lasts between 2-7 years, followed by a period of transition when the hair stops growing but remains in the follicle which lasts around 2 weeks, followed by a period of rest when the follicle is dormant. After dormancy, the follicle regenerates and the cycle begins again when hair starts to grow actively. When the hair growth cycle is disturbed, less hair is in active growth stage and more hair falls out, creating thinner hair; hair also stays dormant for longer. How long will one set of évolis™ Professional Shampoo, Conditioner, Activator and Mask last me?
évolis™ Professional 50ml Activators contain approximately 180 applications and will last between 4-6 weeks based on recommended twice daily, morning and evening application. évolis™ Professional 250ml shampoos and conditioners should last for around 8 weeks with regular use, usually every day or every other day.
How should I apply it for best results and how often?
évolis™ Professional REVERSE, PROMOTE and PREVENT Systems should be used in the following way:

Use in place of your regular shampoo with your usual frequency. No need to change your regular routine

Use twice per day every day, morning and evening. Apply evenly to wet or dry scalp. Using the unique targeted applicator, touch the applicator to one side on top of the scalp and evacuate the applicator while moving the applicator back and forth and working back from the front hairline towards the crown of your head. Repeat on the other side. évolis™ Professional Activator dries very quickly and leaves no residue, leaving hair and scalp light and fresh, so can be used pre or post styling, on wet, damp or dry scalp.
évolis™ Professional REVERSE or PROMOTE Mask
Use weekly on longer, colored or chemically treated hair that needs deep moisturization. Apply to shampooed, towel dried hair and leave for a minimum of 10 minutes, then rinse. Alternatively, évolis™ Professional REVERSE or PROMOTE Mask can be used as an overnight treatment on clean, dry hair. Apply sparingly one hour before bedtime to allow Mask to absorb and shampoo and condition as usual in the morning.
Is évolis™ Professional sulfate free?
All évolis™ Professional formulas are sulfate free, so can be used on colored hair.
Can I use évolis™ Professional Activator with my normal shampoo and conditioner?
évolis™ Professional activator can be used in conjunction with regular shampoos, conditioners or other hair care products as a targeted scalp treatment, though it is recommended to use the accompanying évolis™ Professional Shampoo and Conditioner to ensure maximum conditioning benefits for the hair. Each évolis Professional;system, REVERSE, PROMOTE and PREVENT, contains the same FGF5 inhibitors and active ingredients as the évolis™ Professional Activator in that range.
Should men and women use different évolis™ Professional systems?
All three évolis™ Professional systems are suitable for both men and women because évolis™ Professional works on the hair growth cycle and uses natural actives shown to inhibit FGF5 in laboratory studies. évolis™ Professional REVERSE is targeted at men and women who are experiencing hair loss and thinning hair. This may present itself for women as having less hair in a ponytail, noticing hair fall when shampooing, combing or brushing hair, having areas of the head where the scalp can be seen through the hair or having less hair at the front hairline or on top of the head.
